I do it for fun. Don't read about taking the proper photos, just go and make them. I try my best NOT to fiddle with photos too much. Point, shoot, crop, resize and post on the Internet. Sometimes I do little sharpening, sometimes I correct color balance. Exeptionaly I digitally enhance photos. I use Linux, F-Spot, and mainly gimp for picture editing. My success ratio is about 1:1000, it is one 'good' photo in about 1000 bad ones. And Yes I shoot in JPG, not in RAW ;-)
